Access:  This well is located on the Nevada Test Site (NTS) and requires U.S. Department of Energy permission for access.  Enter the NTS through Gate 510 and proceed 2.7 miles north on Lathrop Wells Road.  Turn left (west) past a sump (0.8 miles), continue through the intersection another 1.7 miles to the site.

Purpose:  NC-EWDP-10P is a dual completion piezometer well. Primary technical objectives include: 1) define valley-fill stratigraphic sequence and groundwater flow paths down-gradient of the proposed repository; and 2) provide water level and water chemistry data of alluvium and underlying Tertiary deposits; and 3) support the characterization of transport parameters.

NC-EWDP-10P is located adjacent to the present day channel in Fortymile Wash and along a potential alluvial flow path from Yucca Mountain to populated areas in Amargosa Valley.  The piezometer well at this location serves as a monitor well for the multiple screen well NC-EWDP-10S during aquifer testing.  In addition, NC-EWDP-10P can serve as an injection well during Nye County cross-hole tracer testing at this location in the future.
